Before arriving in Lima, I had heard conflicting views on the city – some loved it, others hated it (but isn’t that how it always is?!). Though Lima is the capital and largest city in Peru, it is often skipped over, or just a transfer point to get to Cusco. After spending three days there, while I can say it isn’t my favorite South American city (in fact, it didn’t even feel like I was in South America), I think it’s definitely worthy of a few days to visit.

Wow. Somehow, just like that, I’ve reached the end of three months in South America.

Long term travel may come across as super glamorous as you’re browsing Instagram, but it comes with some not so pretty parts and some lows. That said, I wouldn’t change this experience for anything.

At the end of three months, I may be starting to hate most things in my backpack because it is literally the only things I own (and I see them every day), but are some things that make me so happy because they’ve made my travels so much easier.

There are two activities synonymous with Bolivia – Death Road and the Salt Flats.

Little did I know, but there are numerous mountains to climb less than two hours outside of La Paz. And I’m not talking, hiking up them… I mean actually climbing up them.
